Carmo de Minas: Specialty Coffee Excellence

Nestled in the mountainous Mantiqueira de Minas microregion of Minas Gerais, Carmo de Minas is celebrated for its high-altitude farms (900–1,500 meters) and volcanic soils, which create a distinctive terroir. The region’s tropical climate—characterised by rainy summers and dry winters—ensures optimal cherry ripening, yielding beans with complex flavor profiles. Coffees here typically feature notes of milk chocolate, red fruit, honey and dried fruit, often with subtle citrus finishes, attributed to prevalent Mundo Novo, Bourbon, and Catuaí varietals. This quality is underscored by over 358 Cup of Excellence awards, including Brazil’s highest-ever score. A regional powerhouse from the worlds biggest producing country.
